Resident Evil Figure Prototypes

I never find any bargins on eBay. Mainly just common figures with ridiculous price tags and rare figures with even more ridiculous price tags. So, I was searching for Resident Evil action figures as I usually do and I come across this:

This is the prototype model for the Palisades Jill Valentine resin that came out years ago.

I'm pretty sure this has been on eBay for a while now, I've just never really thought to mention it. It's an absolutely gorgeous figure and it's such a shame that it's just a prototype.

The prototype is on the left and the mass produced version on the right. Just look at the difference! The face on the prototype is stunning! As well as her skintone and the overall paint job. To be fair, the released version is an ok figure but compared to this it just looks awful. It's just such a shame so many changes were made, the prototype really does look like Jill.

Also, that price tag. I know she's probably the only one in existance but £1,420.82? Dayam.

Here we have Leon, not bad. Not amazing either.

I really don't like this one, it's ugly as hell and has a weird pose. According to the listing, this was a scrapped first sculpt of the Palisades Series 2 Claire Redfield. I'm glad it was scapped, I prefer the final release.

Now this would've been cool. Two resin figures were to be released (one of Claire and one of Leon) and when put together would have recreated this scene. Claire was made but unfortunately Leon wasn't T_T (though, these might also have been prototypes for action figures instead. I'm not sure I'm just guessing here).

However, I'm glad Claire didn't end up looking like his. I don't know what was up with that face sculpt but it just looks terrible. According to the listing, Palisades originally wanted to release the Claire statue in this varient, without her jacket, but Capcom weren't having any of it and rejected the idea.

Personally, I like her jacket, as sexy as she is without it. :p

Oh, and there was also this little gem:

A Barry Burton action figure. Because one didn't exist, some guy made his own and now it could be yours for just £2,200!! What a bargin!

I bet you some insane collector will buy this and then some company like Hot Toys will release a Barry Burton figure. Just you wait.

Blurry photos ftw! The pictures are so bad it's hard to tell how bad this figure actually is. Or if it's even good. I like the hair and beard though.

The S.T.A.R.S. badge is pretty cool too.

Sure, I'll happily give you more money than you're asking for. I mean, this is an absolute bargin!

And the questions are the best part, especially that bottom one.

I can understand some custom figures going for a lot of money but generally I don't see modified Action Man/Ken dolls going above £100. I just find this figure somewhat creepy, the blurry dark pictures with the black eyes do not help in the slightest.

Oh and also, I wanted to link this:

Good Smile Company have posted a few tips on how to recognise the increasing amount of bootleg figures in circulation.

Bootleg Warning

Remember: be careful what figures you buy at conventions and on eBay as they're the most likely places to find them. If the price is too good to be true then it's probably a fake. ^_^

It's Been a While (Gomenasai!)

Whelp, let's start off with a loot shot.

Black Rock Shooter Strength Nendoroid I picked up from TokyoToys (I haven't actually seen BRS yet, but Strength was just so adorable I had to get her ^_^).

Super Sonico mousepad. I absolutely adore this one, it's my new favourite mousepad! The detail on it is so crisp and Sonico looks so cute (despite being dressed up in such a naughty little outfit! But that's what makes her all the cuter)!

I <3 Hentai badge I picked up at expo. I couldn't resist, it was too hilarious, I had to get it.

Orihime hairclips for my Bleach Orihime cosplay (which sadly, I have no pictures of T_T)

And ToyBiz Resident Evil figures my dear friend gave to me ^_^ I've been after Claire for SO long (but now I also have two leon's :/)

Expo was fun. I was on the costume booth again but next year I'll hopefully be selling all the pretty statues <3<3<3 Not that there's anything wrong with the costumes booth, swinging around sword umbrellas sure is fun but I DO adore my figures.

TokyoToys won the Neo Award for the 5th year running (yay!). This time, for "Best Retailer"! <(^^<)<(^^)>(>^^)>

I managed to get a look around but sadly I didn't really find anything of interest, just the Hentai button and the new Jazwares Sub Zero figure for my brother. The saddest thing was the sheer amount of bootlegs on offer. I'm taking about the dodgy replicas of existing items kind.

It's mainly the expensive PVC statues that get the bootleg treatment, so many fake Nendoroid Mikus, Yokos, Mios, Max Factory Mai Shiranai (the one I have, I'm hoping mine isn't a fake. It's hard to say as she's an old figure but she looks legit. The only bootleg versions of her that I've seen have been horrendous), Good Smile Mikus. You know, the rare & popular ones, all with a cheap >£50 price.

So, as much as I'd liked to have come home with a nice rare figure I'd been after for centuries; the only stalls with the legit figures had the exact same ones we had: the new ones. Nevermind.

Oooh, one last thing before I end this long-awaited post: there was a man who took a picture of me and the girl next to me running the costume stall and this year he came again and gave us the pictures he took of us. Which was really kinda sweet of him. ^W^

He'd photoshopped the picture on the left to make it look like we were just cosplayers standing in front of a board. Haha, I liked that. I thought it was clever. ^_^

When Pigs Fly

Saw this as I was coming into London on Monday; a giant, inflatable pig hovering above Battersea Power Station. I didn't know what to think.

I later found out it was to celebrate the reissue of Pink Floyd's albums.
^w^

My pretty arrangement of posters at TokyoToys. It was the only place to display them, plus it looks better than being able to see the stuff in the cabinets. Maybe now people will be less inclined to open them. :p

Isn't she adorable? We had the black version at the shop not too long ago and I regretted not buying it once we'd sold out of her. But now I'm so glad I didn't because this pink version looks so much cuter and suits her a lot more. I wasn't sure about the blue jacket at first but it's grown on me.

She'll be available in our store around next May. It means I'll be getting her long after everyone else (since her release date is January in Japan) but after the last two statues I'd received from Japan had noticable imperfections (fingers crossed Yoko arrives in perfect condition. >_<), I'd much rather see the statue in person and pick my own one out.

That's the great thing about having a physical store, you can come down and have a good look at the statue you wish to buy. ^w^

Customs Everywhere

So I randomly came across this custom figure of Ulala whilst browing. It's so well made and beautifully done. I wish Max Factory would release one exactly like this. It's a shame the first Space Channel 5 game isn't out on Xbox Live. Space Channel 5 is one of those games I've always wanted but never gotten, I suppose I could pick it up off eBay for the Dreamcast but that would mean having to lug the Dreamcast out everytime I wanted to play it. It's just a shame they didn't re-release both Space Channel 5 and Space Channel 5: Part 2 onto XBL as a set.

And now I shall post a few examples of some great custom figurines.

Gorgeous!

So I've been playing through the first couple hours of Dead Island and I'm loving it so far. I love the open world feel to it and the map seems pretty big. I absolutely love exploring (however, I haven't done much of this due to being too scared of the hordes of zombies ^^). The combat takes a little white to get used to but once you do, it's great. I also love way you can create weapons and the driveable cars are great for mowing down zombies. I just hope they don't break down after mowing down zombies like the cars in Dead Rising. That really sucks.

So good it looks official!

I also had the chance to play on a Nintendo 3DS recently. I purchased Dead or Alive: Dimensions and I have to say; it has got to be the best fighting game I have ever played on a handheld. The story mode is good, the costumes are pretty good (I just wish there were more. As always), the online is pretty laggy but the fighting itself is fantastic. Unlike most other 2D fighting games where the special moves almost always have to be executed with quarter-circles, half-circles, zig-zag motions, charges and all this other thumb-numbing annoying shit that is damn annoying to pull off on the pathetic handheld analog sticks and d-pads, all this game requires is tapping or holding buttons on the d-pad which make it a dream to play.

Why are there no sexy official Regina figures like this one?! All of my want.

Also, I got Pokemon HeartGold. Fuck yeah, nostalgia! I don't remember that little red-haired emo twat (Gold's rival) being in the original version though. Maybe he was and I just can't remember.

Green bunny Miku! So cute!

Anime-wise: I've just finished watching the entire Soul Society arc (first 60 episodes) in Bleach and all I have to say is OMGWTFEPIC. I never figured I'd be a Bleach fan but as always I figured if it's this damn popular it must be pretty good so I decided to give it a try and I am SO glad I did. I love the fight scenes and all the drama and conflict between the characters. I'm going to try my best to skip all the filler arcs so I'm starting on the Arrancar arc now (starting episode 110). Can't wait to see the fights between Grimmjow and Ichigo and for Gin to make a reappearance! ^w^

I absolutely love this!

I'm so excited to hear that Max Factory will be producing an official figma of Samus Aran (based on her Metroid: Other M costume) next year! Although I prefer her Prime armour more (like the custom figure in the picture above), the figma looks awesome! I've always wanted a Samus figure but they're so hard and expensive to get hold of. Looks like I'll finally get my hands on one ^_^

Figma Samus = So much win!!

This Jill's niiiiice! I'm surprised Palisades didn't make a Jill Valentine figure which is a shame as I bet it would've looked pretty good. They did a good job on Claire at least so I figure a Jill one would've looked nice too.

WHY are there no Silent Hill figures?! There's like a billion of Resident Evil but none of Silent Hill. Not even NECA has made one of Pyramid Head. Just OMGWTF

I've also been watching through Highschool of the Dead and Fate/Stay Night. I'm enjoying both of them. HOTD suddendly went all over-the-top-fanservice-y on me when I got to the sixth episode. Jiggly breasts and panty shots everywhere. It's still decent though. F/SN is pretty good. I love Rin, she's so cute ^w^

*SQUEE!* Space Channel 5 Miku! How adorable! Why has this not been made official yet?!

I adore this one. I'm not too sure what it is but the way the hair is sculpted is so gorgeous and the little flowers are a lovely touch. So kawaii desu neeee! <3

Hatsune Miku Append Ver. Arrives!

After weeks of waiting, my Miku Append figma finally arrives!

What's that little black package?

How cute! They're little figma sized headphones! I really wasn't expecting to get these as I thought it was an AmiAmi pre-order only thing so it's a nice surprise. It's just a shame I didn't get the black ones (they made 3 different colours; white/light grey, grey and black) so they probably won't look too good on Miku but maybe I'll be able to use it on another figma/action figure at some point. It's a nice little freebie none-the-less.^w^

*Squee!*

She's so gorgeous! I'm not much of a figma fan but I just couldn't pass this one up. As cute as her standard face is, I'm probably going to be swapping it out for the second, much more seductive face and pose her all floaty-like. Such a pretty figure. ^_^

My ever-growing collection of boxes. I really need to get some shelves put up soon (due to my laziness and lack of DIY skills, I still haven't put them up). I can't wait to take all my figures out of their boxes and pose them. It's driving me insane leaving them like this.

Just Another Day At TokyoToys

Just a collection of random images from TokyoToys that I had on my phone.

The text on the plastic window is backwards. Seems like they stuck the sheet on backwards when making the box. lololol.

Pretty, pretty Revoltechs all in a line. I love organising statues and figures. ^w^
Plus, there was no damn space left in the shop so it was the best way to display them. I may have to start doing this with the Figmas and Nendoroids at this rate. The shop is too small to display all these figures. T_T

The new cosplay costumes rack! This one is so much more easier to maintain than the old one (which was basically just piles of costumes stuffed into a few small spaces). It also means I don't have to spend ages counting all the costumes (because with the old system, it was so hard to see how many costumes of each size we had), awesome.

A customer asked that I draw a wizard on their package, so I (quite badly) drew Coco dressed as a wizard. >w< I've also been asked to draw a pirate cat before, probably by the same person. Such funny requests, it made me smile having to draw it out. ^^

If you don't see it; that's a Sephiroth figure but the label says "Tina Branford (Terra Branford)". lolololol. Just wow.

Shiranui Mai! Mairimasu!

A wild box appears!

Whatever could be inside?

Let's open it up and see...

OMG who is that?!

It's Mai Shiranui of course! My second most wanted figure ever!

Here she is with some other recent King of Fighters goodies. Queen's Gate artbook/trading card game book and Weiss Schwarz cards.

King of Fighters XII Weiss Schwarz trading cards. They have a little Mai on the back. So cute! Sadly, there was not a Mai card inside. :<

Here she is in all of her glory. Unfortunately, I still don't have the space for her so I just took her out to have a quick inspection. Overall verdict: I LOVE HER! As my only 1/6 scale figure, look at how she towers over my tiny, little 1/8 scale K-on! figures! I absolutely LOVE the size of her. 1/6 is the perfect scale in my opinion. It's a shame most figures made now are 1/8 scale.

I also recently received a Miku Hatsune figure and was quite disappointed at her size after receiving Mai. But never mind.

She's got a really cute face!

That top can barely contain her!

Some more boobage.

But one thing that I was really disappointed with was the huge seam line she has running down her leg. It looks terrible, much worse in person. I don't know what I should do about it, if there's even anything I can do about it. I've thought about sanding it down but that'll most likely remove the paint and I'd really like to avoid repainting her as I'd most likely ruin her. Hopefully I'll find a solution. I'd hate to display her in this condition as it makes her look like a cheap knockoff (which I'm certain, and hoping, she isn't).

Other problems include the back part not fitting together correctly. It's not too much of a problem as it doesn't really affect the figure. The top part isn't loose or anything and since it's the back I won't be able to see it anyway.

A big seam line across the thumb.

And seam lines across the two balls.

But dispite her problems, she's still an absolutely gorgeous figure and I'm so glad that I've finally got her. I'm gutted that the seam line on her leg is so noticeable but I'm sure she'll still look amazing when displayed high up on a shelf. I probably won't even be able to see it from that distance.
